KKRL, known as "93.7 KKRL," is an FM radio station based in Carroll, Iowa. The station plays Hot AC. KKRL is part of Carroll Broadcasting, along with KIKD, KCIM, and Cable TV Station CBTV.
History
KKRL-FM signed on in 1975 under the ownership of the Carroll Broadcasting, owners of KCIM, and KIKD. At the time, KKRL was the first FM radio station owned by Carroll Broadcasting. KKRL was an automated station playing all 70's at night but later added local personalities in the overnight hours. Later they played rock n' roll hits, then switched formats to Hot-AC.
Personalities and programming
KKRL's current morning announcer is John Ryan. Other personalities (as of July 2012) include Tom Haukap, Renie Osterlund, Lance Coon, Kristen Campisi, and Wes Treadway, with news and sports by Jeff Blankman and Frank Williams. The station has shows dedicated to 80s music Tuesdays at noon, "The 80's Retro Lunch." Thursdays at noon, KKRL carries "The 90's Retro Lunch." Also, KKRL runs the "No Repeat Workday" Mondays from 8-5. They have a brand new website full of local information at http://www.937kkrl.com .
