KDZZ (107.7 FM, "Z Rock 107.7 and 103.9") and KDCZ (103.9 FM) are a pair of simulcasting radio stations broadcasting an active rock format. KDZZ is licensed to St. Charles, Minnesota and KDCZ is licensed to Eyota, Minnesota, they serve the Rochester, Minnesota metropolitan area. The stations are owned by Townsquare Media.

History

KDCZ began as KLCX on the 107.7 frequency, which is now KDZZ, and moved to 103.9 on April 1, 2008. The KLCX call letters were originally assigned to a station in the Palm Springs, California market in the early 1990s but were surrendered when its new owners changed the format to smooth jazz and the call letters to KJJZ. KLCX aired a classic hits format on 107.7, which moved to 103.9 FM in 2008 as 107.7 FM flipped to active rock as "Z-Rock 107.7". On March 23, 2010 KDZZ began simulcasting on KDCZ 103.9 FM.

On August 30, 2013, a deal was announced in which Townsquare would acquire 53 Cumulus Media stations, including KDZZ/KDCZ, for $238 million. The deal is part of Cumulus' acquisition of Dial Global; Townsquare and Dial Global are both controlled by Oaktree Capital Management.[1][2] The transaction was consummated effective November 14, 2013.
