Joseph Lloyd "Joe" Dombrowski (born May 12, 1991) is an American professional road racing cyclist who rides for UCI ProTeam Cannondale–Garmin.[1][2] Dombrowski turned professional in 2011.[2]

Personal

Born on May 12, 1991, in Christiana, Delaware, United States, Dombrowski spent his adolescence in Marshall, Virginia, United States.[3][4] He resides in Marshall, Virginia,[5][6] and Nice, Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur, France.[7][8] Between 2009 and 2010, Dombrowski attended George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia.[9][10]

Career

Early years

Dombrowski began mountain biking in 2006 and road racing in 2009. He competed with Trek–Livestrong, a UCI ConTeam, for the 2011[11][12] and 2012 seasons.[13][14] During the 2012 season, Dombrowski garnered significant results.[15][16] He won the Girobio, finished fourth at the Tour of Utah, and placed tenth at the USA Pro Cycling Challenge.[17][18]

Team Sky: 2013–2014

Dombrowski signed with Team Sky, a UCI ProTeam, for the 2013 and 2014 seasons.[19][20] During the 2013 season, Dombrowski assisted teammate Chris Froome in various multi-day races.[21][22] During the 2014 season, Dombrowski underwent successful iliac artery surgery.[23][24]

Cannondale-Garmin: 2015–present

Dombrowski signed with Cannondale–Garmin, a UCI ProTeam, for the 2015 and 2016 seasons.[25][26] As he was preparing to ride the Vuelta a Espana, he won the 2015 Tour of Utah, soloing away on a mountain on stage 6 to secure his victory. He was later named in the start list for the 2015 Vuelta a España and had a strong performance on stage 11, the queen stage, but failed to make an impact during the race, finishing 46th.[27]

He was named in the start list for the 2016 Giro d'Italia.[28]
