Jan Rudolph Slotemaker de Bruïne
Jan Rudolph Slotemaker de Bruïne (1869, Sliedrecht – 1941, The Hague) was a Dutch politician and Christian minister.
Jan Rudolph Slotemaker de Bruïne was born on May 6, 1869 in Sliedrecht. Ordained in 1894 as a Reformed minister, he worked since 1907 in Utrecht. He became professor of theology at the University of Utrecht. After a railway strike in 1903 he realised that the Church holds important social obligations and since then he has also participated in politics. In 1926 he become minister of labour, in 1933 and 1935 minister of social affairs and education. On May 1, 1941 de Slotemaker de Bruine died in Wassenaar.
