Jamshed Ahmad Khan Dasti (Urdu: جمشید احمد خان دستی) is a Pakistani politician who serves as the Member of National Assembly representing Muzaffargarh, Punjab.[1] Starting his political career from Pakistan People's Party he resigned from the party on 16 March 2013 and also from membership and National Assembly. He later announced contesting election as an independent candidate. He got overwhelming majority in NA-177 Muazaffargarh-II and NA-178 Muazaffargarh-III in 2013 election in which he defeated the influential family of Hina Rabbani Khar.[2] Popularly known for being the poorest parliamentarian in the country, Dasti declined offer to join the victories party Pakistan Muslim League after elections and decided to remain independent member. He voted for Nawaz Sharif for the slot of premier.[3]

Personal life
Jamshed Dasti is a man of motivation, will-power and heart. He has made such a status and value in poor people's heart which the other politicians could not even do in all their lives. He removed the custom of families politics. He is very famous among people for timely support and great sympathy. He is now even called as '1122' by correlating the name with his province's emergency rescue 1122 service. It was his remarkable success after securing two seats simultaneously in general election as a independent candidate. So, Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sarif wanted him to join PML(N).
On 4 April 2013 Dasti was sentenced to 3 years in prison and 5000 Rupees fine for presenting a fake degree and breaching the public representation eligibility. Following the court verdict he was arrested from outside the courtroom. On foreseeing the court verdict he announced his decision of not contesting in the general elections of 2013 a day earlier the court announced the verdict. On 10 April 2013, the Multan bench of Lahore High Court heard Mr Dasti's appeal setting aside all laws, overturned his conviction of 3 years and 5000 Rs fine hence paving the way for him to contest the 2013 elections. Jamshed Dasti was elected in National Assembly for next five years. Dasti contested general 2013 elections as an independent candidate from two constituencies NA-177 (Muzaffargarh-II) and NA-178 (Muzaffargarh-III and won both seats,[4] defeating Ghulam Noor Rabbani Khar and Nawabzada Mansoor.
Dasti however revolted against People's Party, and in the party's stronghold he won two seats, he has subsequently aligned with the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf in the National Assembly and on national issues such as US drone strikes where he was present at Imran Khan's rally . Since August 2014, Dasti is working as an independent politician after announcing his decision not to join the party in Islamabad.[5] He also led a bicycle rally from Muzaffargarh to Islamabad on 7 April 2015.
