Jacob Casson Geiger

A native of Alexandria, Rapides Parish, in the U.S. state of Louisiana, Jacob Casson Geiger (18 November 1885 - 7 November 1981) was a graduate of Tulane University and for many years in San Francisco and Oakland, California, city director of public health and the 1935 president of the San Francisco Medical Society. For his research in public-health medicine (e.g., malaria and botulism), he received numerous awards from the U.S. and foreign governments as well as several honorary academic degrees. Among others he was made Officer of the Legion of Honor (France), Commander of the Order of Jade (China) and Commander of the Order of Quissam Aloute Cherifien (Morocco).
