Iran Fara Bourse Co. (IFB) also known as Farabourse is an over-the-counter market for securities and other financial instruments in Tehran, Iran which operates under official supervision of SEO (Securities and Exchange Organization).
IFB operates as a self-regulatory organization governing the activities of its brokers and members. The company was established in 2009 and its transactions officially started in four market segments on September 28, 2009. Its shareholders include the Tehran Stock Exchange Corporation (20%), several banks, insurance companies and other financial institutions (60%), and private and institutional shareholders (20%).[3] As of July 2011, Farabourse has a total market capitalization of $20 billion and a monthly volume of $2 billion.[4]
Establishment of Iran Fara Bourse Company is one of the main steps for developing capital-market in Iran and diversifying financial instruments traded in the securities market. In 2013 Farabourse started offering exchange-traded funds[5] and real estate ETFs in September 2014.[6]
