An Internet outdial is a modem that can be connected to through the Internet and then used to dial a telephone number. Normal outdials will only call local numbers, but a global outdial, or GOD, is capable of calling long distance. Outdials were once a common and inexpensive method of calling long distance bulletin board systems, but more recently their use has been severely restricted.
