Indian Institute of Information Technology, Kalyani (IIIT Kalyani) is one of the 20 Indian Institutes of Information Technology located at Kalyani, West Bengal. The classes started from first week of July 2014, from the temporary campus located at the campus of JIS College of Engineering.[1] On 19 August 2014, official inauguration of the institute was done by the mentor director Prof. Ajoy Kumar Ray, the director of IIEST Shibpur. Admission to IIIT Kalyani.[2] is done on the basis of the marks obtained in the JEE Main.

History
On 18 March 2013, Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India introduced a bill in the Parliament to establish 20 new Indian Institute of Information Technology's in different parts of the Country. As per the bill, MHRD will establish the 20 new IIITs under the Public Private Partnership (PPP) mode partnering with respective state governments and industry partners.[2] The new IIITs are envisaged to be Institutes of National Importance. Aimed at generating highly competent manpower of global standards for the Information Technology Industry, the institutes are also expected to act as major catalyst to develop new knowledge in the field of Information Technology.
Indian Institute of Information Technology – Kalyani, Nadia District, West Bengal is amongst the Second batch of 3 new IIITs approved by MHRD.
Mentor Director & Mentor Institute
Prof Ajoy Kumar Roy(Director IIEST Shibpur) is the Mentor-Director for IIIT, Kalyani, Nadia District, West Bengal. The Indian Institute of Engineering, Science and Technology, Shibpur is the Mentor Institution.
Logo
The Logo was primarily designed in favour of IIITK by Shri Arindam Benerjee who is an artist and an employee of Indian Institute of Engineering Science & Technology, Shibpur (IIEST, Shibpur).

Admissions
The admission to IIIT is through Central Seat allocation Board (CSAB). The students are allotted admission by CSAB based on their Joint Entrance Examination (JEE-Main) ranks. The Indian Institute of Information Technology, Kalyani, Nadia District, West Bengal is listed in the CSAB website under List of participating institutes in Other Central Government / State Government Funded Technical Institutes.
Facilities
The New Campus : Presently being operated from its temporary campus at JIS College of Engineering, Kalyani. Indian Institute of Information Technology, Kalyani has already initiated construction process of its new campus over a sprawling area of 50 acres. The total built-up area there would be approximately 5.00 lakhs sq. ft. and is expected to be operative from the first half of 2017.
Hostel Facilities
On-campus hostels for men and women will be ready when the Institute will move to the new campus. Till that time decent accommodation facility has been arranged by the Institute (to pay basis) within a reasonable distance from the temporary campus. Quality dinning arrangements has also been put in place.
Computers
The institute has a Computer Center with multiple computer labs and a virtual classroom equipped with computing and audio-visual facilities such as interactive boards, projectors etc.
Library
The Library has a good collection of reference books, text books, technical reports, standard and literature books.
