Ammanath Babu Chandran, popularly known as Idavela Babu or Edavela Babu, is a popular Malayalam film actor. He got his nickname "Idavela" from his first film Idavela in 1982.
Biography

Administrative Assistant Kerala Police Dept) and Santha Raman (Retd.Music Teacher, Govt High School) on 11 August 1963 at Irinjalakuda in Thrissur District of Kerala. He has a brother Jayachandran who is doing business. He did his High Schooling at Govt. Model Boy's High School, Irinjalakuda and then took his Bcom degree from Christ College, Irinjalakuda.[1]
During his school days he actively participated in all extra curricular activities and won many prizes and was also the recipient of a scholarship, being first in Folk Dance in the 17th State School Youth Festival,1977. During college days he kept the same spirit and won 1st Place in the years-1980, 81, 82, 83- Representing Christ College, Irinjalakuda for Dance Competition in the Calicut University Youth Festival. Greatly Impressed by his skill during his college days, Director Sri.Mohan gave him a role in Edavela- in 1982.
It was a turning point in his life. He then acted in more than 100 films including one Hindi film (Meena Bazar). He is a popular household name as he has acted in more than 200 Telefilms, Serials, and Mega Serials on the Mini Screen. He has also lent his voice for dubbing, to Heroes like Vineeth, Rahman, K.P.Kumar, Ashok Pothen, Dileep, Vishnu, Baiju etc. and is skilled in modeling too.
