Hyundai Chungun High School (Hangul: 현대청운고등학교; HCU), is a private boarding high school located in Dong-gu, Ulsan, South Korea. It is one of the six Independent Private High Schools (자율형 사립고) in South Korea that requires an application of nationwide scale and admissions test to the applicant students.
Description
HCU's main specialized education systems and policies are as follows:
- Elite Leadership Education
This education system aims to provide the students with practical application of education for the gifted students. It includes AP(Advanced Placement) courses, as the school has been registered as official AP test center by College Board in 2007. For developing students' potential, the school operates Academic Adviser Policy, Chungun Essay Writing Program, as well as specializing in foreign languages, algebra, and natural science. In order to make up for their lacking points, the students are free to ask for opening supplementary courses according to their academic achievements.
- Global Leadership Education
Established in 2008, there is HCGLP (Hyundai Chungun Global Leader Program), which is an International Class for admission to the prestigious foreign universities. The school provides English presentation courses to improve speaking and thinking ability in English. The sophomores are granted the opportunity to be the students on GLS (Global Leader Scholarship). This is three-week program in Portland State University, Oregon, United States. Classes and clubs for Korean traditional music and arts, including Samul Nori, Daegeum, and Gayageum. Individual Research hours granted within the regular curricula. Unsupervised examination policy. Club activities-athletic activity, orchestra, star observation, ensemble band, habitat for homes, etc.
