The sixteenth series of the British medical drama television series Holby City commenced airing in the United Kingdom on BBC One on 15 October 2013. The series ran for 52 episodes. A number of characters departed the show early in the series, including the show's longest serving character, Chrissie Williams, played by Tina Hobley. Consequently, this turnover has resulted in a number of new characters being introduced to the programme.
