Heritage High School is a high school located in Frisco, Texas, part of the Frisco Independent School District. Heritage opened for the first time to freshmen and sophomore students in the fall of 2009.

Athletics

The Frisco Heritage Coyotes compete in the following sports:

Football, Cross Country, Volleyball, Football, Basketball, Wrestling, Swimming, Powerlifting, Football, Soccer, Golf, Tennis, Track, Softball, Water Polo, Baseball, and lastly Football.

District Champions: Football (2014-2015) Boys Soccer (2012 & 2013), Girls Track (2012 - 2014)

Heritage was at some point solid at every sport and continues to gain good athletes here and there. It even has state champions in the sport of powerlifting. The one team that everyone knows is not that good is baseball. That program never had that high of potential anyways yet they could not even reach that.

Heritage Theatre

Starting in Fall 2009, Heritage Theatre opened with a production of "The Secret Garden" from there followed Theatre Fest where the classes put on shows such as "Pygmalion" performed by Intermediate Theatre 1, "Alice in Wonderland" performed by another Intermediate Theatre 1, and "The Miracle Worker" performed by Theatre 2. The UIL One Act Play chosen was, "The Butterfly's Evil Spell" by Federico Garcia Lorca. The Theatre took this One Act to Area, which is the highest level an opening school in FISD has reached, many awards were received during this time.

The new year (2010–2011) was kicked off by a summer performance of Twelfth Night by William Shakespeare, where some of the theatrical students came in August during their vacation period to audition and work on the show. Currently in progress is the regional premiere of "Hairspray", and the Theatre Production shows "And the Winner Is..." and "Paganini". Heritage Theatre has entered the UIL OAP season with La Dispute as the Varsity One Act show, and Pride and Prejudice as the JV One Act.

Heritage High School Band

Accomplishments

The Heritage High School Band has had two successful years as a growing organization. During the first two school years open (2009 & 2010), the band has achieved two 1st division ratings at UIL contests for marching and concert. Its inaugural show, "State of Mind" propelled the marching band into the world of high school marching competitions. "Speed" (2010), the second year show, continued the HHS Band's success within Frisco and Little Elm. "Windsprints" (2011) earned the marching band another 1st division rating at UIL, allowing them to compete in the 4A Area B Marching Contest in October.

2012's show was entitled, "Drum Music", featuring the music of John Mackey. This show again also received straight 1's at UIL, leading to a successful (4 in-a-row) straight 1st divisions since Heritage has been opened. However, 2012 was not a state year for 4A because it was for 5A. In the fall of 2013, Heritage High will be able to attempt to make State for 2013 is a state year for 4A.

The Heritage Band is under the instruction of Head Director Jason Prasifka, and Assistant Director Don Kitchens. Percussion Instructors are Ronnie Ivy, and Mark Simmons. Color Guard is led by Josh Suarez.

Heritage High School Orchestra

The orchestra program began in 2009 and is directed by Elizabeth Balkema. She has brought the program to numerous successes and the orchestra itself has achieved division 1 ratings at UIL since it began.

In 2011 the Heritage Orchestra received superior ratings from all six judges at the Region 24 UIL competition. The Orchestra also went to San Antonio to the Music Choice competition where they received supierior ratings from the judges and runner up for best in class. The cello and bass section received musicianship awards at this competition also.[citation needed]
