Guruvayur Express
The Guruvayur Express is one of the express trains of Southern Railway in India. The train runs between the temple city Guruvayur with the capital of Tamil Nadu Chennai through round about route. Earlier it used to connect state capital of Kerala, Thiruvananthapuram , with Guruvayoor and was later extended to Nagercoil, Madurai and then Chennai. A link of the train runs up to Thoothukudi as it was announced by the Railway Minister in the 2013-2014 Railway Budget. The train links the important cities and towns of southern Tamil Nadu with Kerala. It connects the important cities of Chennai, Tiruchirappalli, Madurai and Tirunelveli in Tamil Nadu with Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Kochi and Thrissur in Kerala. It longitudinally crosses the almost whole state of Tamil Nadu. It is hauled by RPM(Royapuram Electric loco shed) WAP-7 locomotive from Chennai Egmore to Nagercoil Junction, where the train reverses its direction and is further hauled by a WAP-4 locomotive of ED/RPM (Erode/Royapuram Electric Loco Shed) from Nagercoil Junction to Guruwayur.
Train Number 16127 starts daily from Chennai Egmore and reaches Guruvayur Railway Station the next day. In return direction train number 16128 starts from Guruvayur Railway Station and reaches Chennai Egmore the next day.[1] It runs via Alleppey route in Kerala.
