A separate Geomancer comic series was also published in 1994,[2] lasting eight issues.[3]
Fictional biography
Geomancers are a lineage of men and women who, since 3500 BC, have been chosen by the Earth itself to defend it, with only one Geomancer operating at a time.[citation needed] In the Viking era, it was a young boy.[4] When a Geomancer dies, his or her chosen successor takes their place.[citation needed] When a Geomancer has reached the end of their life-cycle their power is removed by a suicide ritual called Bagh-Nakh.[citation needed]
Geomancers were instrumental in many pivotal events in the Valiant Universe, including the Unity Conflict, the birth and upbringing of Magnus, Robot Fighter, the struggle against the Darque Power, and the Harbinger Wars.[citation needed] Gilad Anni-Padda has served as the "Fist and Steel" of the Geomancers for most of his immortal life,[citation needed] only failing three times to save a Geomancer.[5]
In 1992, Geomancer Tashi Khatun authored a book entitled The Book of Geomancer, the tome of ultimate knowledge.
The first Geomancer was Khanit, who was chosen in 3500 BC.[6] Later Geomancers included Buck McHenry,[7] Geoff McHenry,[8] Lucinda Mendez,[8] Yuri Pierce,[8] Ana Kawainui,[citation needed] Rokland Tate,[citation needed] and Aram Anni-Padda.[citation needed]
In the new Valiant continuity, a woman named Kay McHenry serves as the Geomancer.[9][10][11]
Powers and abilities
Geomancers can psychically communicate with the Earth,[citation needed] receive psychic impressions from objects and living organisms,[citation needed] possess innate healing abilities,[citation needed] can read the minds of others,[citation needed] can control the natural energy sources of the Earth,[12] and can cause objects to bend to their will.[13]
