Electron (formerly known as Atom Shell[3]) is the main framework behind two notable open source software applications: Atom — GitHub's text editor,[4] and Microsoft's Visual Studio Code.[5] Electron is an open source framework developed by GitHub.[6] It allows for the development of desktop GUI applications using the Node.js framework, originally used for the development of backend web applications.
