Duane Denison (born January 21, 1959) is an American guitarist best known for work with the avant garde, influential rock band The Jesus Lizard. Denison plays for Legendary Shack Shakers, The Jesus Lizard (which he recently re-united with after a 9-year break-up), and the supergroup Tomahawk.[1] He has played for Firewater. He began his musical career by studying classical guitar. Denison and ex-Ministry bassist Paul Barker recently collaborated to form a new band, U.S.S.A.. U.S.S.A. released one album in 2007, titled The Spoils. He has also played with Hank Williams III's "Damn Band" and Silver Jews. Denison supplied the lead guitars on EmptyMansions snakes/vultures/sulfate released on April 2, 2013.
Duane Denison is one of Spin magazine's "100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time".[2] He is recognized as one of the most powerful and unique guitarists of the late 1980s and 1990s, known for his complicated scales, hard-driving rhythms, and riffs that combine a pastiche of blues, punk, jazz, and classical sounds.
