The Dragon Awards are a set of awards given annually for the best science fiction or fantasy works and achievements of the previous year. Though presented at Dragon Con, the awards have a nomination and voting system open to any fan in the world.
The inaugural Dragon Award for Best Science Fiction novel went to Somewither: A Tale of the Unwithering Realm by John C. Wright. The counterpart Best Fantasy Novel award went to Son of the Black Sword by Larry Correia.
Other award categories for books included Best Young Adult/Middle Grade Novel, Best Military Science Fiction or Fantasy Novel, Best Alternate History Novel, Best Apocalyptic Novel, and Best Horror Novel. For other media, awards included Best Comic Book, Best Graphic Novel, Best Science Fiction or Fantasy TV Series, Best Science Fiction or Fantasy Movie, Best Science Fiction or Fantasy PC/Console Game, as well as awards for mobile, board, and card/miniatures/role playing games.
