Douglas Andrew 'Dougie' Ramsay (born 26 April 1979) is a former Scottish professional footballer who is currently a free agent after leaving Troon in the Scottish Junior Football Association, West Region. He has previously played in the Scottish Premier League for Motherwell.

Career

Ramsay began his professional career with Motherwell and made 39 league appearances for the club before his release by manager Terry Butcher in June 2003.[1] After a spell training with St Mirren, Ramsay joined Ayr United where he spent three seasons before a move to Stranraer in 2006.[2][3]

Ramsay dropped to Junior level with Irvine Meadow in May 2007 before joining Glenafton Athletic the following season.[4][5]

Ramsay joined Troon FC in 2010 and as Captain led them to back-to-back promotions under Jimmy Kirkwood, before a serious arm injury barred him from making a playing impact on their West of Scotland Super League Premier Division campaign.

Coaching career

In May 2014, following a serious arm injury, Ramsay was appointed as Troon FC First Team Coach. Utilising his experience gained all through the leagues in Scottish football, Dougie played a very important role in guiding the side through their maiden Premier Division campaign before leaving his position in May 2015.
