Cyprus participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 2006 with "Why Angels Cry" performed by Annet Artani. The song placed 15th in the semi-final with 57 points and therefore did not qualify for the final.

A Song for Europe
A Song for Europe, the Cypriot national final, consisted of two semi-finals held on February 11 and February 12, 2006 with a final held on February 22, 2006. Each semi-final had ten contestants, five of which were selected by regional televoting to continue to the final. At the final, held in CyBC studios and hosted by Alex Michael & Christina Marouchou, the winning contestant was once again chosen by televoting.[1] Annet Artani won the final with the song "Why Angels Cry" written by Petros Yiannaki.
