Cy Town (born 1931) is a British television and film actor perhaps best known as a Dalek operator in eight Doctor Who stories from 1973 to 1988.[1][2]

Born in Shropshire in 1931, after leaving school he worked in the office of an engineering firm and for Staffordshire County Council before doing his National Service, following which he joined the accounts department of a packaging company in London. His leisure time was spent in amateur dramatics before turning professional at the age of 36.[3] Town's television appearances include being a Dalek operator in eight Doctor Who stories - Frontier in Space (1973), Planet of the Daleks (1973), Death to the Daleks (1974), Genesis of the Daleks (1975), Destiny of the Daleks (1979), Resurrection of the Daleks (1984), Revelation of the Daleks (1985) and Remembrance of the Daleks (1988); in addition, he played uncredited roles in 15 other Doctor Who stories.[4] Town also played the Mess Steward in the We Know Our Onions episode of Dad's Army (1973) and appeared in It Ain't Half Hot Mum (1976), The Bill (1984), and the Nemesis episode of Miss Marple (1987).[1][5]

Film appearances include Milkman in Adventures of a Private Eye (1977) and Tajis Durmin in Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope (1977).

Cy Town lives in Tunbridge Wells and is a regular at Doctor Who and Star Wars conventions and signings.[6]
