The Christ of Toledo Parish Church (Spanish: Parroquia Cristo de Toledo) is a Roman Catholic parish church located in the suburban neighbourhood of Villa García, Montevideo, Uruguay.[1]

History

In 1885 dies Doroteo Garcia, owner of important land extensions in this area. His widow Carolina Lagos decides to build this church as a memorial to her husband. The temple was built in historical eclectic style, with a neoclassic facade, placed on top of a hill that can be seen from far away; it was consecrated in 1891. The author of the design is unknown. Inside can be seen the sculpture of Christ, work of Romairone, in Carrara marble.[2]

The parish was established on 30 October 1919.[1] Nowadays the Salesians of Don Bosco run an oratory devoted to children in situation of social risk.[3]
