International career

After breaking through to Melbourne Victory's first team late in the 2012-13 season, Connor Pain was called up for the 2013 U-20 World Cup, after which he was among four players from that squad to be called up for the senior Socceroos camp ahead of the 2013 EAFF East Asian Cup. Despite travelling back to Australia to appear for Melbourne Victory in a preseason friendly against English giants Liverpool F.C. in front of 95,000 fans at the MCG where he was singled out for praise by Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers,[6] just a few days later Pain made his senior national team debut against China in the final game of the tournament.[7]
