Cobalt Air is a new airline based in Cyprus that will fly its first flights in June 2016. It will be the first Cyprus-based airline since the dissolution of Cyprus Airways in 2015.[2] It is planning on turning Larnaca into a hub and offer Cyprus' first non-stop flights to China in 2017.[3] It's first aircraft, 5B-DCQ, arrived at it's home base on the 26th of May 2016. It's inaugural flight will take place June 1 from Larnaca to Athens.[4]

Fleet

The airline is planning to operate a fleet of A320 when it commences operations in 2016, with A330 aircraft set to join the fleet in Spring 2017 coinciding with the introduction of long haul flights. [5]

The first A320-200 aircraft arrived in April 2016 and was granted an AOC on 18 May 2016 following a test flight between Larnaca and Heraklion. According to chairman Gregory Diacou, Cobalt will receive another 3 aircraft of the same type by the end of June 2016. [6]
