Professional career

Club career

Early career

Born in Neunkirchen, Austria, Fuchs played five years for SV Mattersburg and joined 2008 the German side VfL Bochum.[1] 2010 signed on loan by 1. FSV Mainz 05.[1] Just like in Bochum, Fuchs was starting players in Mainz. At the end of the 2010-11 Bundesliga season, the club took the option of purchase and gave Christian Fuchs a contract by 2015.

Schalke

But short time later, on 6 June 2011, Christian Fuchs signed a contract until 30 June 2015 with Schalke 04.[2] The transfer fee is reportedly undisclosed by Schalke's sport and communications manager Horst Heldt.[2] Fuchs was assigned the number 23 shirt, previously worn by Danilo Fernando Avelar.[2]

Leicester City

On 3 June 2015, Leicester City announced the signing of Schalke 04's Christian Fuchs on a free transfer, signing a three-year deal with the Foxes effective from 1 July.[3]

International career

Fuchs made his debut for Austria on 23 May 2006 in a friendly match against Croatia and played at UEFA Euro 2008 in which he made only one appearance, Austria's third match against Germany.[4]
