Chionodes braunella is a moth in the Gelechiidae family.[1] It is found in North America, where it has been recorded from Alberta and British Columbia to Colorado, Arizona, California and to Washington, southern Ontario and Maine.[2][3]

The wingspan is 17-22 mm. The forewings are deep chocolate brown with a purple iridescence. The apical fourth of the wing is almost solid blackish fuscous. There are three blackish-fuscous spots in the cell and another similar spot at the basal third. The hindwings are fuscous.[4]

The larvae feed on Lupinus albifrons, Lupinus arboreus, Lupinus chamissionis, Lupinus excubitus, Lupinus ornatus, Lupinus peirsonii, Lupinus varicolor, Lotus scoparius, Trifolium eriocephalum, Trifolium wormskioldii, Vicia americana, Lathyrus vestitus, Lathyrus sulphureus and Gaylussacia species.
