Rouse High School was established in 2008 by the Leander Independent School District in Leander, Texas to relieve overcrowding in the quickly growing district. It is named after Mr. Charles Rouse, a former principal at Leander High School. When the school first opened in 2008, it had only a freshman class (9th grade), however, in its fourth year, the school was opened to seniors, juniors, sophomores, and freshman. In 2011, the school was rated "Academically Acceptable" by the Texas Education Agency.[1]

Sports

The Rouse football program started in 2009 with two teams, Freshman A team (Maroon) and Freshman B team (Gold). Both teams played their first official game on August 28, 2009 and both teams held their first home game on September 11, 2009.

Raider Rumbler

The Raider Rumbler is an online newspaper written by students about current events, school sports, and spirit activities. Hard copies are also published and distributed to the student body.

Rouse Band

The Rouse Band is a rising program in the school. The first year alone, the band placed second at the USSBA state competition. Since then, they have taken several first place awards for their division in competitions such as the Vista Ridge Marching Festival. They have also recently won the Battle of the Bands between Rouse and Leander. As of the 2011-2012 school year, the Raider Band is considered part of class 4A. In 2010-2011, the band's show was Starry Night, and their motto was "The Band Marches On." In 2011-2012, the band's show was Flurry, and their motto was "Every Player, Every Note." In 2012-2013, the band's show was The Journey of Heroes, and their motto was "Are YOU Ready?" won several best-in-division awards already in the season. In 2013-2014, the band's show was Playing with Fire, currently this show was awarded with all captions in 4A competition, overall captions, and was titled Grand Champions at the Central Texas Marching Festival in Buda,TX. This show was also awarded with a Division I Rating at the Region 26 UIL Marching Competition at the Kelly Reeves Athletic Complex in Round Rock,TX. At the UIL Area D competition at Gupton Stadium in Cedar Park, TX, Rouse place 5th in Preliminary competition and advanced to finals. In Area finals, Rouse placed 7th. In the Bands of America Super Regional Championship in San Antonio, Rouse placed 45th out of 64 bands.
