Central Intelligence is an upcoming American action comedy film directed by Rawson Marshall Thurber and written by Thurber, Ike Barinholtz and David Stassen. The film stars Dwayne Johnson and Kevin Hart, alongside Amy Ryan, Aaron Paul, Danielle Nicolet and Timothy John Smith, and is scheduled to be released in the United States on June 17, 2016.
The film follows Bob Stone (Johnson), an overweight geek who was bullied in high school but grew up to be an extremely lethal CIA agent, who takes his old friend from high school, Calvin (Hart), on an adventure to save the world.

Premise
Bob Stone (Dwayne Johnson), a one-time bullied overweight geek who grew up to be a lethal CIA agent, comes home for his high school reunion. Claiming to be on a top-secret case, he enlists the help of the former "big man on campus" Calvin Joyner (Kevin Hart), now an accountant who misses his glory days. The two enter a world of shoot-outs, double-crosses, and espionage that could get them both killed.

Production
Development
The film was announced in 2015. Rawson Mitchell was selected to be the director and started to write the script together with Ike Barinholtz and David Stassen. That year, Dwayne Johnson was cast alongside Kevin Hart.
Filming
Principal photography began in late April 2015 and took place throughout various Massachusetts locations, including Boston,[3][4] Burlington,[5] Lynn, Middleton[5] and Quincy. Principal photography ended in July 2015. To promote the film, Johnson and Hart had an Instagram war against each other on the set.[6]
Release
Warner Bros. will handle distribution in the United States when the film opens on June 17, 2016. Universal Pictures will cover global distribution as the film releases between June and July 2016, two weeks after the initial release.
