It's assumed that the huge majority of Indian photographers have carried out some photography in India, so this category simply subsumes Indian photographers as a subcategory; Indian photographers are not additionally listed individually below.

As for non-Indian photographers, they are listed if they have done a substantial amount of work in India (at a minimum, one book devoted to India) or if their work in India was of unusual historical or other significance. Non-Indian photographers who have merely made short visits to India and had miscellaneous photographs published should not be listed below.
