Encantadia is a fantasy soap opera television series (locally known as telefantasya) shown every weekday in the Philippines. It was hailed by Philippine critics as the grandest, most ambitious, and most expensive production made for television and was voted among Filipinos as the favorite TV show in K-Zone Philippines magazine. The pilot episode was aired on May 2, 2005 on GMA Network. Its last episode was aired on December 9 of the same year to give way to its sequel, Etheria, which aired its pilot episode on the following Monday, December 12.
