American Basketball Association 2000 teams are those squads competing in the second incarnation of the American Basketball Association, known as the ABA 2000. The first American Basketball Association was active from 1967 until its merger with the NBA after the 1975-1976 season. The original ABA fielded teams only in large cities and its teams often met (and more often than not defeated) NBA teams in head to head matchups. The ABA 2000 plays in much smaller cities than those that hosted most original ABA teams, and the quality of play is decidedly not on the same level as that in the NBA.
