Mandate
CVU's mandate is to increase access to higher education, to avoid duplication, and to foster collaboration among publicly funded universities committed to online and distance education.
Benefits
Collectively, participating universities offer over 2,500 distance and online courses, and over 350 complete degrees, diplomas, and certificates. One quarter of CVU's programs and courses are offered in French.
CVU universities accept each other's courses for transfer credit, thus providing students with greater course selection than is available at any single university.
As a demonstration of its commitment to transfer credit and flexibility, CVU members waive Admission and Letter of Permission fees for students enrolled in members' distance programs, thus giving students greater course selection than can be found at any single universities.
Participating universities collaborate in joint marketing, develop new online and distance programs, share expertise in online instructional design and pedagogy, develop funding proposals, create new services for distance students, and explore other areas of common interest.
