The Boise State–Nevada football rivalry is a college football rivalry between the Boise State Broncos football team of Boise State University and Nevada Wolf Pack football team of University of Nevada, Reno. The game has been played every year since 1971 with the exception of 1978, 1992, 1995, and 2000. The game was also played twice in 1990 as the second game was a Division I-AA semifinal playoff game, and to date has been the only post-season game played between the two programs. The series has mostly been a conference match-up, with the exception of the first seven games as well as the 1993, 1994, and 2011 games. Boise State and Nevada have faced each other as conference rivals in four separate conferences - the Big Sky Conference, Big West Conference, Western Athletic Conference, and beginning in 2012, the Mountain West Conference. The two teams have played each other from the NCAA Division II level all the way up to the highest level of college football, NCAA Division I FBS.

Beginning in 2013, however, the rivalry will no longer be played annually. Due to the MW expanding to 12 football members in 2013, the conference will split into two divisions for that sport, with Boise State placed in the Mountain Division and Nevada in the West Division. Future MW football schedules include five divisional games and three cross-division games, with no permanent cross-division opponents. This means that in a four-year cycle, teams in opposite divisions will play one another twice (two seasons on and two off, or vice versa). They will play in 2013 and 2014 and not play each other in 2015 and 2016 in the regular season. They can still meet in the Mountain West Championship game.
