Arabsat-6A is a Lockheed Martin-built communications satellite operated by Arabsat and owned by The Arab League.[4][5] The satellite was successfully launched from Kennedy Space Center by SpaceX's Falcon Heavy on April 11, 2019 at 6:35 pm EDT and was released into orbit at 7:09 pm EDT.[6][7]

Specification

Arabsat-6A and SaudiGeoSat-1/HellasSat-4 are the two satellites of the Arabsat-6G program. These two satellites "are the most advanced commercial communications satellites" ever built by Lockheed Martin.[8] They are based on an updated A2100 bus and use new solar-panel technology.[1][3]

Arabsat-6A was positioned in geostationary orbit, providing television, internet, telephone, and secure communications to customers in the Middle East, Africa and Europe.[9]
