Andreas Öberg (born 6 August 1978) is a Swedish guitarist & songwriter/music producer.

Multi-platinum songwriter Andreas has written many Nr1's on the official single/album charts in Japan, Korea and in several other countries with pop idols such as Girls' Generation, Namie Amuro, Super Junior, EXO, Arashi, TVXQ, BoA, SHINee, f(x), Hey!Say!JUMP, Kim Hyun Joong, ジャニーズWEST, 2PM, BEAST and VIXX.

Since early 2012 Andreas has been focusing on his career as pop/rnb songwriter and producer, writing for artists on the Asian, US and European markets. Notable releases including Andreas' songs are: RIAJ Platinum certified album Girls & Peace by Girls' Generation, their RIAJ Gold certified album Love & Peace (including 4 songs: Motorcycle, Gossip Girls, Do the Catwalk and Lingua Franca, co-written by Oberg) and also the RIAJ Platinum certified "TREE" and "WITH" by Korean boy band by TVXQ."TREE" peaked on 2nd place of the Global Album chart (listing the most sold albums in the world weekly) during March 2014.[1] In 2015 SHINee's album release "ODD" (inc.the songs Romance & Black, co-written by Oberg) topped the Korean album chart Gaon for two weeks straight and also reached the Nr 1 spot on Billboard's world album chart at the end of May 2015.[2] Legendary Japanese artist Namie Amuro's RIAJ Platinum certified album Genic named after Oberg's co-write "Photogenic" did also end up as the 2nd most sold album in the world during mid June 2015.[3] and Japanese boy band Hey!Say!JUMP made it to Nr1 on the same Global Album chart early July with their RIAJ Gold certified new album, also including Oberg as a songwriter[4] In mid July 2015, Super Junior's special 10th year anniversary album "Devil", including Oberg's co-write "Forever With You" made it to Nr 1 on the iTunes charts in more than 10 countries[5] also becoming the most sold album in the world after its 2nd week on the market[6] In Oct 2015, Oberg contributed with the song "the Deep End" to Arashi's RIAJ certified million & 4x platinum selling album "Japonism" charting at Nr 1 in Japan [7] and also peaked at spot 1 on the Global album chart. In December 2015 his co-written single "Dear Santa" with Girls' Generation-TTS did an "All-Kill" and hit Nr1 on all the 8 different real-time charts in South Korea [8] and the mini-album made Nr 1 in 9 different countries [9]

At the 29th Japan Gold Disc Awards, taking place on 1 March 2015, all 3 winning albums in the category "Best Albums Asia" included songs co-written by Andreas. Also winning albums in the category "Album Of The Year" and "Best Music Video" included his co-writes. So a total of 5 award winning albums: TVXQ/Tohoshinki "Tree, With & Tree DVD" + Girls Generation/SNSD "The Best" all have song contributions by Oberg.[10]

Biography

Öberg was born in Stockholm on 6 August 1978. He began playing guitar at the age of 8 years old and studied at the Royal College of Music in Stockholm. As a guitarist Oberg has performed with a variety of artists like Les Paul, Eros Ramazzotti, Hank Jones and Bireli Lagrene.

He won the Hagström Guitar Award and the Gevalia Music Prize] in 2004[11] followed by the Gibson International Guitar Competition Audience Prize in Montreux in 2006.[12] His 2008 album My Favorite Guitars on Resonance Records reached 22 on the US radio instrumental charts. It pays tribute to George Benson, Pat Martino and others.[13] His 2010 album Six String Evolution reached 15 on the US jazz radio charts. Andreas was also a featured soloist/performer on the album Resonance Big Band which received a 2010 US Grammy Award. The Grammy also led to a live performance at Hollywood Bowl in June 2011. Öberg also used to be a guest teacher/lecturer at the Musicians Institute (formerly GIT) in Hollywood.[14]
