Abank (Alternatifbank A.Ş.) is a Turkish bank with headquarters in Istanbul.

History

The bank was founded in 1991 by the Doğan Grubu and was enlisted in 1995 with 20% of its shares at the Istanbul Stock Exchange. In 1996, 80% the bank was acquired by Anadolu Grubu, later the share of the group rose to 96%.[2]

In 2006, Alpha Bank, a Greek bank, proposed to acquire roughly half of Abank's shares.[3][4]

The group was eventually acquired by The Commercial Bank of Qatar on 18 July 2013 and renamed ABank.[5]
