91st Street was a local station on the IRT Broadway – Seventh Avenue Line of the New York City Subway. The station was in use from the opening of the subway in 1904 until February 1959, when the adjacent 96th Street station was lengthened to the south, providing a new entrance only 100 feet (30 m) away from 93rd Street. A station was provided at 91st Street to avoid having 10 blocks without a subway station. The station's two abandoned side platforms are still visible from passing trains. The 91st Street station is fairly well preserved, with the exception of some litter and graffiti.
