January
- 9 - Same-sex marriage becomes legal in Australia.[1]
- 10 - San José/Costa Rica: The International Court for Human Rights in Latinamerica ruled, that governments have to allow same-sex marriages in their countries in Latinamerica. The high court descision is important for laws in Barbados, Bolivia, Chile, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Haiti, Honduras, Mexiko, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay, Peru and Suriname.[2]
February
- 1 - Same-sex marriage becomes legal on island Jersey.[3]
