The 2004 National Invitation Tournament was the 2004 edition of the annual NCAA college basketball competition. Michigan (initially barred from postseason play that season, but overturned on appeal) defeated Rutgers (who joined Michigan in the Big Ten Conference in 2014) in the final game to capture their third NIT Championship.
