The 1978–79 Scottish Cup was the 94th staging of Scotland's most prestigious football knockout competition. The Cup was won by Rangers who defeated Hibernian in the twice replayed final.

Events

The second round tie between Inverness Thistle and Falkirk was originally scheduled for 8 January 1979, but was postponed twenty-nine times due to inclement weather. The game was finally played on 22 February.[1]
