Call letters' meaning WB Lowcountry Network (false call letters)

WBLN was a cable television station in Charleston, South Carolina which served as the area's affiliate for The WB from the beginning of the 1998-99 television season, until the network ended operations on September 17, 2006. The station's call-sign was entirely fictional, as the station was not a broadcast station, but rather part of The WB 100+ Station Group. Owned by Coastal Media & Broadcasting, the station aired the WB 100+'s schedule without local deviation. The affiliation of The WB's successor, The CW, went to a new digital subchannel available to all viewers in the market on WCBD-TV under the branding Lowcountry CW 14, which assumed all of WBLN's existing channel positions on local cable providers at launch.

Before the cable-only WBLN went on the air, The WB programming was seen on WCTP, which later became WBNU, then from Superstation WGN after WBNU switched to UPN and changed the call letters to WMMP before the national launch of the WB 100+ system.
