The Amazing Race 11 (also known as The Amazing Race: All-Stars) is the 11th installment of the reality television show The Amazing Race. The Amazing Race 11 featured eleven teams of two — ten returning teams from previous editions, and a dating couple who had met and competed against each other on a previous season — in a race around the world.

The eleventh cycle premiered on February 18, 2007 at 8:00 p.m. EST, 7:00 CST for one hour,[1] and the season finale was on May 6, 2007.[3]

Dating couple Eric Sanchez and Danielle Turner, who had competed on opposing teams on The Amazing Race 9, won this edition of the race, becoming the first The Amazing Race team to win The Amazing Race without finishing first in any of the prior The Amazing Race legs combined.

A DVD was released on May 1, 2013, courtesy of Amazon's CreateSpace program.

Production

Development and filming

As early as 2004, there had been talk about an all-star edition, with speculation that it would occur during the eighth season, just like Survivor. These rumors were fueled by reports that Season 4 winner Reichen Lehmkuhl had been invited to appear in a future all-star Race.[4] Speculation continued for the next few years, particularly after CBS aired all-star editions of their two other reality competition series Survivor and Big Brother.[5] On September 28, 2006 CBS ordered an 11th season of The Amazing Race;[6] in November 2006, the network officially acknowledged that an all-star edition was in production.[7] Host Phil Keoghan was originally skeptical that an all-star edition was feasible. Over time, Keoghan felt that "as we got more and more really good teams, it (All-Stars) just seemed like it had to happen."[8]

This season of the Race traveled a little over 45,000 miles (72,000 km) across 30 cities and six continents.

This season was the second (after season 5) to visit every inhabitable continent. The new locales visited in this season were Ecuador, Mozambique, Poland, Macau, and Guam. This was the last season in the US series to feature the Yield. As of 2024, this is also the last season that did not either start or finish in the Greater Los Angeles Area.

Six legs of this race were won by all-female teams (4 by Dustin & Kandice and 2 by Charla & Mirna) setting a record which would later be matched in season 17.

This season's 11 teams were selected from past contestants, going back among the first ten seasons.[9] Keoghan personally submitted a list of 15 teams that he thought should return. Ten of them were chosen. The one he didn't choose was Eric and Danielle, who did not previously race together. Keoghan said, "I didn't think of that new combination, which actually is a really good one."[10] He also added that the production team's goal for the race "wasn't to pick the best racers", but "to pick the teams that have earned the most attention over the last 10 seasons".[8] Despite the "All-Stars" title, only one team, Uchenna and Joyce, was a winner of a previous season. Some former racers were angered by their omission from All-Stars, most notably Chip and Kim (Season 5) and BJ and Tyler (Season 9) who publicly criticized CBS' casting process.[11] Colin and Christie (Season 5) were expected to be in All-Stars but could not participate due to Christie's pregnancy.[12] Flo Pesenti and Drew Riker (who began dating after meeting during Season 3) were invited to participate, but Flo reportedly declined for two reasons: she felt the first race had brought out the worst in her, and her season 3 winning partner Zach Behr was not invited to join her. The newly created team for All-Stars thus became Eric and Danielle.

Marketing

This season introduced the Elimination Station feature on the official website. A series of 13 web episodes presented the eliminated contestants living together in a common house in their sequester location in Acapulco, Mexico. The series was viewable only in the United States and was available on the Innertube video streaming service on the CBS website, with a new episode debuting immediately following the airing of each new Amazing Race episode in the Pacific time zone.[13]

  • An underlined blue team's placement indicates that the team came in last on a non-elimination leg of the race and was "Marked for Elimination"; if the team did not finish 1st on the next leg, they would receive a 30-minute penalty.

  1. ^ Kevin & Drew received a penalty for not taking the car they used during leg 1 in order to depart on the second leg. It is not known how long the penalty was, or when it was served.[14]
  2. ^ Dustin & Kandice initially arrived 4th, but they had missed the clue to the Detour, having simply arrived by chance at one of the options (finished the detour). They were forced to backtrack and retrieve the missed clue at the end of the Detour and return to the Pit Stop. This did not affect their placement.

Joyce confirmed in a post-race interview that she had done the newspaper recycling Roadblock prior to being eliminated. Her unaired performance is included in this tally.[15]

Unless otherwise noted, prizes were awarded to the first team to check in for each leg.

  • Leg 1 - A trip to the Four Seasons Resort, Whistler Lodge in Whistler, British Columbia, Canada provided by Travelocity.
  • Leg 2 - An off-road motorcycle for each member.
  • Leg 3 - A home gym for each member.
  • Leg 4 - A trip to the Royal Lahaina Resort in Maui provided by Travelocity.
  • Leg 5 - A trip to Aruba provided by Travelocity.
  • Leg 6 - A 12-foot (4 m) catamaran for each team member.
  • Leg 7 - A trip to Puerto Rico provided by Travelocity.
  • Leg 8 - A trip to St. Lucia provided by Travelocity. Although two teams arrived in first place, there was only one prize offered. Oswald & Danny decided to award the prize to Uchenna & Joyce.

  • Leg 10 - A trip to Hong Kong during Chinese New Year provided by Travelocity.

Elimination Station

The first five teams eliminated were sequestered at a villa in Acapulco, Mexico to await the finale. Subsequent eliminated teams telephoned the villa to inform the teams at the villa of their elimination, but continued to run the race as decoys to throw off spoilers to the final outcome of the race. The sequestered teams met up with the decoy teams in the final destination city to cheer on the final three teams as they crossed the Finish Line

CBS posted short videos on its website after each episode aired in the Pacific time zone to show the eliminated teams interacting at the villa.

  • After Leg 1, John Vito & Jill were the first eliminated and sent to the villa. While there, they were guessing who would be eliminated next. They thought it would either be Charla & Mirna or Kevin & Drew.
  • After Leg 2, Kevin & Drew were the second team eliminated and sent to the villa. While there, Kevin, Drew, and John Vito were arguing over what a stoop was. Later, they guessed Charla & Mirna would be eliminated next.
  • After Leg 3, David & Mary were the third team eliminated and sent to the villa. David recounted how he was misdirected by several Chilean locals over breakfast. Later, Jill shows David & Mary the master suite they saved for the first married couple. Later, Drew guessed Teri & Ian might be eliminated next.
  • After Leg 4, Rob & Amber became the fourth team eliminated and sent to the villa. Rob and Amber were welcomed very nicely. John Vito and Jill even said they were a strong team. Later, they guessed that the next elimination would be Eric & Danielle.
  • Leg 5 was a non-elimination leg. The four eliminated teams sat around waiting for another team, only to hear John Vito and Kevin figure out that it must be a non-elimination leg. They spent time on a beach overlook, and back at the villa, Rob dragged Mary into the pool.
  • After Leg 6, Teri & Ian were the fifth team eliminated and sent to the villa. Drew put on a displeased face for the camera when they arrived. A disgruntled Ian revealed that he believed Oswald & Danny are ruthless racers with no character, saying that when he worked with them in Ushuaia to book flights, they deliberately booked him a different flight and did not confirm it. He said that the same thing happened when Eric & Danielle worked with Oswald and Danny. He also predicted that either Dustin & Kandice or Uchenna & Joyce would win.
  • Leg 7 was a non-elimination leg. John Vito and Jill pondered about this non-elimination round. Ian expressed how he and Teri bonded with Joe & Bill and Eric & Danielle as a result of their spending consecutive days together in airports. Amber did tattoos for entertainment.
  • After Leg 8, Joe & Bill were the sixth team eliminated. The eliminated teams got a call from them are were sad to hear that Joe & Bill were eliminated from the race. Mary asked Joe & Bill who they think should win. Bill said that he would love to see Uchenna & Joyce or Charla & Mirna win. The guests talked about the call the next morning. In a confessional, Kevin and Drew said that since they were so close to the Finish Line, they would see Joe & Bill where the Race finishes.[16]
  • After Leg 9, Uchenna & Joyce were the seventh team eliminated. They called the villa and told the eliminated teams about their flight problem that led to their elimination. The teams at the villa expressed disappointment at Uchenna & Joyce's elimination, and Amber tells them they would meet up at the Finish Line. Prior to the call, Drew questioned why Dustin & Kandice need to participate in the Race when they had already won beauty pageants. Amber took exception to this, having won Survivor: All-Stars prior to her original season of The Amazing Race.
  • Leg 10 was a non-elimination leg. The eliminated teams waited for another team, only to discover that the leg was non-elimination. Amber taught Mary how to swim, allowing her to overcome her long-held fear of swimming.
  • Leg 11 was a non-elimination leg. The eliminated teams waited for a phone call from the next eliminated team, but give up after several days without a phone call. John Vito came up with the idea of throwing an awards party to commemorate the end of their stay at the villa. Each racer drew another racer's name and presented him or her with funny and sometimes touching gifts.
  • After Leg 12, Oswald & Danny were the eighth and final team eliminated and were sent to the End City. The five teams at the villa departed to the End City in order to cheer the remaining teams as they run to the Finish Line. At the End City, they reunited with Joe & Bill, Uchenna & Joyce, and newly eliminated Oswald & Danny. Oswald and Danny said they would like to see Charla & Mirna win the race, while some of the other teams reiterated who they would like to see win.
  • Leg 13 was the final leg of The Amazing Race: All-Stars. Some of the eliminated teams shared their opinions on the winners and the runners-up. The final three admitted to their final joys and disappointments.

Leg 1 (United States → Ecuador)

Teams traveled to Cotopaxi National Park in Ecuador for the first Pit Stop of this season of The Amazing Race.

Airdate: February 18, 2007

At the starting line of The Amazing Race: All-Stars took place at Charles Deering Historic Estate near Miami, the returning teams instructed to open their clues on the top of their bags and travel to their first destination city: Quito, Ecuador. Teams also had to pick a marked Mercedes-Benz vehicle to Miami International Airport with the first five teams for the American Airlines flight leaves second but arrives first, while the other six teams in Copa Airlines which leaves first and ends in last.

Upon arriving in Quito, teams had to head to Plaza de San Francisco and where they must find their next clue, sending them to Pim's Restaurant where teams must pull a number to receive three different departure times for the next morning, 7:00, 7:15 and 7:30. At the departure time, teams had provided a map and find these cars and drive themselves to Hacienda Yanahurco at Cotopaxi National Park and must advice to enter at the north entrance of the park.

At the park, teams picked up the clue and was encountered on the first Detour of the race, a choice between Wrangle It or Recover It. In Wrangle It, teams had to help local cowboys lasso, tie down, and groom one wild horse whose hooves grow so long that they prevent them from walking properly. Team members had to use traditional tools to clip its hooves to a safe length and to trim its mane and tail. When the horse is free, they would receive their next clue. In Recover It, one team member had to put on an historical military uniform. Then, the team must search the field for three items missing from the uniform: an epaulette, a button and a sword. Once they found, a general would receive their next clue. The clues sending teams to the top of the hill at Mirador Cotopaxi for the Pit Stop.

Leg 2 (Ecuador → Chile)

The Detour in Chile where teams took place at Chuquicamata copper mine. The "By Hand" task involved a dump truck, similar to the one pictured.

Airdate: February 25, 2007

At the start of the leg, teams instructed to head to Santiago, Chile. Upon arriving, they made their way to the corporate headquarters of Codelco where they had to find the clue inside the building and was discovered for the Roadblock, asking "Who has an eye for a detail?". One team member was to enter the ground floor boardroom and search the boardroom for letters of the alphabet that were on display. Teams needed to figure out that the majority of the letters when unscrambled would spell out one of the ten destinations inscribed on the plaques hanging on the wall. When they think they solved the puzzle, which was Chuquicamata, they had to show their answer to the security guard who would hand them their next clue if they were correct.

The clue after the Roadblock told teams to travel to Calama, located at the base of Atacama Desert and find Chuqicamata open pit mine to search their next clue, and was turned out with the mining-related Detour: By Hand or By Machine. In By Hand, teams had to choose a two-ton tire and, by properly aligning the bolts and washers, finish securing it to a dump truck. When it finished, a foreman would hand their next clue. In By Machine, each team member had to take a turn driving a huge front loader to transfer enough gravel to cover a marked yellow line on a stick and the foreman would receive their next clue. The Detour clues instructed teams to pick up a marked vehicles and drive themselves to the Valley of the Dead (known in Spanish as Valle de la Muerte) in San Pedro de Atacama for the Pit Stop. Teams must take a speed limit of 50 km/hour.

Leg 3 (Chile)

Airdate: March 4, 2007

At the start of the leg, teams inform to head to Iglesia de San Pedro de Atacama and searched the grounds to find their next clue, instructing them to travel to Puerto Montt, in Chile's Los Lagos Region. Upon arrival, they had to pick up these marked cars and head to the town of Metri where they find Centro Acuicultura y Ciencias del Mar at Universidad de Los Lagos to find the next clue, the Roadblock and asking "Who can handle a slippery situation?". One team member had to choose an Lua error in Module:Convert at line 272: attempt to index local 'cat' (a nil value). fish-breeding tank, jump in, and catch and transfer all 80 flounder from the breeding tank to a holding tank at the other end of the farm. Once finished, their clue would be revealed at the bottom of the tank.

The clue where had figure out during the Roadblock teams had to travel to La Maquina at Petrohué River in Vicente Pérez Rosales National Park where they searched with their next clue, the Detour and the choice between Vertical Limit or River Wild. In Vertical Limit, teams had to walk 200 yards (200 m) to a cliff where both team members needed to complete a 40-foot (12 m) rock climb. Each team member would grab one half of their clue at the top of the climb. In River Wild, teams had to backtrack two miles (3 km) to the banks of Rio Petrohué where they would complete a two and a half mile white water rafting course through level 3 and 4 rapids until they completing the course, they had to hike with their next clue. The clues sending teams to the Pit Stop at Playa Petrohué.

Leg 4 (Chile → Argentina)

Ushuaia, one of the southernmost cities in the world, was visited by teams in Argentina.

Airdate: March 11, 2007

At the start of the leg, teams had to travel to Punta Arenas, one of Chile's southernmost settlements. Upon arrival, they made their way to Lord Londsdale Shipwreck and located the next clue nearby the abandoned ship. The clue had soon turned out with the Detour, a choice between Navigate It or Sign It. In Navigate It, teams had to use a map of Punta Arenas to get to the Plaza Muñoz Gamero where a sailor would hand them a compass. Then, using the compass, the teams needed to walk directly south to find the Nautilus Building, a deep-sea salvage business until a provider would give their next clue. In Sign It, teams had to choose a pole and building supplies and carry them up a flight of stairs to Ferdinand Magellan's map. Using the map as a reference, teams needed to figure out his journey around the world began and ended in Seville. Then, they had to build a traditional local signpost listing in order the fourteen ports of call in his voyage. While the signs didn't have to point in the right direction, all the cities had to be spelled correctly. When they completed building the signpost, they would receive their next clue.

The clue instructed teams to travel to Carlos Ibanez Del Campo International Airport and they had to sign up for a charter flight to Ushuaia, Argentina, known as one of the southernmost cities in the world, which leaves three hours apart for 8:00 am and 11:00 am the following day. Upon arriving, they headed to Playa Larga along the Beagle Channel and search with their next clue.

At Playa Larga, the clue told to travel to Bahia Lapatia and they had to take a number departs every 20 minutes would take two teams at the time to Isla Redonda and search the Post Office that would get their next clue, the Roadblock and where teams asking "Who's good at sorting things out?". One team member was to sort through 1,600 pieces of mail from a mailbag and find one of two messages addressed to their team, written by one of the other teams from their season. The team member then had to read the message inside it to their partner, after which they received their next clue. The clue instructed teams to travel by foot to the Pit Stop at Mastil de General Belgrano.

Leg 5 (Argentina → Mozambique)

At the start of the leg, teams must travel to Martial Glacier and where they had to use an avalanche beacon to search the glacier for another beacon buried in the snow with their next clue. They must inform to start at the base of Martial Mountain Chain and ride a chair lift, pick up an equipment and hike a mile through a glacier. The clue instructed teams to travel to the city of Maputo, Mozambique. Due to regulations, teams had a provided flight from Ushuaia to Buenos Aires, and the tickets are limited with a scheduled arrival at 3:00 pm.

Upon arriving in Maputo, teams had to pick up a marked vehicle with drivers and made their way to Apopo Training Field in Bilene, at the outskirts of the city and had to find their next clue, the Roadblock, asking "Who smells a rat?". One team member had to guide a rat to find a race marker above a deactivated mine. Once their rat gave the signal that it found something, an Apopo Mine Technician would search the area. When the Race marker was found, the team would receive their next clue.

The clue sending teams by a marked car and a driver to Praça dos Trabalhadores in Maputo and search with the next clue, and had found out with the Detour, a choice of Pamper or Porter. In Pamper, teams had to travel half a mile to the Maputo Central Market, choose a nail polish kit, and convince people to pay them to paint their nails, which in Maputo is a job usually performed by men. Teams needed to earn at least 30MT, which is about one U.S. dollar, to receive their next clue. In Porter, teams made their way two miles to Mercado Janet where they would use their bare hands to fill 10 large 45 pounds (20 kg) bags with coal and sew each of them shut. Then, teams had to carry one of the ten heavy bags to a specified address where the owner would hand them their next clue, instructing them to travel to the Pit Stop at Fortaleza de Maputo.

Leg 6 (Mozambique → Tanzania)

To reach the island of Zanzibar, teams rode on dhows.

At the start of the leg, teams were told to travel to Dar es Salaam, the largest city of Tanzania. Once there, they had to head to the ferry terminal and must pull a number to one of these four separate times through a dhow to the island of Zanzibar. Upon arrival in Zanzibar, teams received a clue and encountered with the Detour: Solve It or Schlep It. In Solve It, teams had to make their way one third of a mile to the Beyt al Chai hotel where they would put together a 62-piece puzzle that recreates an image from a style of local artwork known as tinga tinga. Once the puzzle was completely solved, they would receive their next clue. In Schlep It, teams made their way one mile to the Kijangwani Lumber Yard. Once there, they had to choose a local handcart and load two 50 lb (23 kg) logs into their cart. Once loaded, teams had to travel more than a mile to deliver the logs to a dhow shipyard until a manager would receive their next clue.

The clue directed teams to travel to the village of Kikungwi and find the members of Maasai people to search with their next clue, the Roadblock and asking, "Who's on target?". One team member learn how to use a traditional wooden weapon called a rungu used by members of the Maasai community by throwing it 65 feet (20 m) to destroy clay targets in order to retrieve their next clue from inside. The clue sending teams to Stone Town and find Old Fort of Zanzibar for the Pit Stop.

Leg 7 (Tanzania → Poland)

Warsaw's Łazienki Palace was the Pit Stop on this Leg of the Race.

Airdate: April 1, 2007

At the start of the leg, teams were headed next to the city of Warsaw, Poland. Upon arriving in Warsaw, they made their way to Czapski Palace, known as Frédéric Chopin's childhood home and search the palace to find a Chopin impersonator with a piano to search their next clue. Due to the flights to Warsaw are limited, teams were provided a flight from Zanzibar to a connecting flight various African cities with a required arrival time at 11:25 am the next day.

At the Palace, the clue turned out to be the Detour along the famed Polish historical figures, the choice was Perfect Pitch or Perfect Angle. In Perfect Pitch, teams had to make their way three-quarters of a mile to the Prymas Palace and choose a grand piano. Then, they needed to use the provided tools to tune one key of the keyboard. Once the concert pianist played a piece of Chopin's music and determined that their piano was in tune, he would hand them their next clue. In Perfect Angle, teams made their way approximately half a mile to the Escada Boutique to pick up a mannequin and carry it another 400 yards (400 m) to the Panoramik Laboratory. Once there, teams had to use an x-ray machine to locate a clue embedded somewhere inside their mannequin which needed to be positioned at a very specific angle for the image to capture the name of their next destination and commemorate Marie Curie.

After completing both Detours, teams received the worksheet or x-ray paper where had to figure out their next location commemorating the statue of Jan III Sobieski: Łazienki Park. At the park, there was a roadblock required teams to row a boat out onto the reflecting pool from the park to the palace. However, it went unaired and the objective is unknown. The clue at the park where teams instructed to the Pit Stop at Łazienki Palace.

Leg 8 (Poland)

Teams visited the Auschwitz concentration camp and paid tribute to the millions killed during the Holocaust.

Airdate: April 1, 2007

At the start of the leg, teams had to travel to the monument of the Polish Underground State and the Home Army in Warsaw and they must get one of two tickets for a charter bus to their next destination: the infamous Auschwitz-Birkenau, a concentration camp used during World War II when Jewish people had genocide. At the concentration camp, teams had to light a memorial candle on the railroad tracks to honor those who lost their lives during the Holocaust. Once they observed the memorial silence, they would receive their next clue.

The clue received teams to travel to the city of Kraków and find Juliusz Słowacki Theatre where they find with their next clue, as well as Intersection sign. At the Intersection, teams had to join with one other team to complete tasks and make decisions together until further notice, including completing the Fast Forward. In this Fast Forward, the newly joined teams had to climb a set of stairs up two different towers (the "fire guard" tower of St. Mary's Basilica and the Town Hall Tower located in the Main Market Square) and count how many stairs there were. They then had to add up both towers. Once they have both numbers with a result and present it to a guard, if they calculate the correct answer, they would win the Fast Forward.

Otherwise they have to do with Detour, a choice between Eat It Up or Roll It Out. In Eat It Up, the newly joined teams would make their way one and a half miles to an old market. Once there, each team member had to use traditional methods to make one 3 inches (0.076 m) length of Polish kiełbasa (sausage). After finishing, the teams would be served 8 feet (2.4 m) of cooked kiełbasa. Once each person ate 2 feet (0.61 m) of sausage, the teams would receive their next clue. In Roll It Out, the intersected teams would make their way one and a half miles to the J. Mazurek bakery in the city's Kazimierz, the Old Jewish Quarter and properly roll out twenty bagels. When finished, they would make their way on foot one quarter of a mile to Klezmer Hois with a delivery of fresh bagels for the headwaiter and receiving their next clue.

After the Detour, teams were no longer Intersected. The unintersected teams had to find marked cars into a nearby parking a lot and head to Sułoszowa and find Pieskowa Skała to receive their next clue, the Roadblock where it asked, "Who's a knight in shining armor?". One team member had to don a full suit of authentic medieval armor and lead a horse half a mile through the forest to the castle gates. Once at the castle, they had to deliver the horse to the stable boy, enter the courtyard, and search for the Pit Stop.

Leg 9 (Poland → Malaysia)

At the start of the leg, teams were informed to head next to their destination: Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Upon arrival, they must travel by train and bus to Batu Caves in Gombak and climb the steps above the caves to search with their next clue, sending them to Kampung Baru district to find the Kampung Baru Mosque to search the footbridge with their next clue, and as well as the Yield board where Dustin & Kandice had to choose Yield Eric & Danielle.

The clue had found out with the Detour and the choice between Artistic Expression or Cookie Confection. In Artistic Expression, teams needed to travel one third of a mile on foot to Dewan Lama. Once there, they had to use an ancient technique known as batik to exactly duplicate one of three patterns onto and then dye a 45-square-foot (4 m2) piece of cloth until receiving their next clue. In Cookie Confection, teams made their way on foot half a mile to Chow Kit Bomba and find the marked stall where they had to search through 600 boxes of traditional Malaysian festive cookies from a table by biting into them, and find the one cookie that had a black licorice center until the cookie vendor would receive their next clue.

The clue instructed teams to travel to the neighborhood of Taman Sri Hartamas and locate the newspaper vendor with a delivery truck to locate the next clue at the park, encountering the Roadblock, asking "Who's ready for a part time job?". One team member was to nod to Malaysia's eco-friendly practice of recycling. Team members had to choose a bicycle with a side cart attached and then scour the neighborhood for residents willing to give them their used newspapers. Once they had collected enough newspapers to make a stack eight hands (approximately 8 hands, an equal of 6 feet (1.8 m)) high, they would receive their next clue, directing them to travel to the Pit Stop at Carcosa Seri Negara.

Leg 10 (Malaysia → Hong Kong, China)

At the start of the leg, teams were instructed to travel next to Hong Kong. Upon arrival, they have to travel to Sun Wah Kiu Laundry at Hankow Road in Kowloon to get their next clue from the launder. The clue contained a Fast Forward, teams had to travel 5 miles (8.0 km) to a film set located at the former Kai Tak Airport where a high-speed stunt was being filmed for an action movie. When they arrived, they had to get in a car with a professional stunt driver and complete a stunt course, involving sharp turns and the car flipping over to skid up. After completing the stunt course, the team would win the Fast Forward, and their clue.

Otherwise, the teams had to do with the Detour, a choice between Kung Fu Fighting or Lost in Translation. In Kung Fu Fighting, teams had to travel 5 miles (8.0 km) to Tonkin Street and find a nearby building (the former Cheung Sha Wan Police Quarters). Once there, they had to climb up an 11-story bamboo scaffold while avoiding an ongoing battle between stunt kung fu experts to reach the top and retrieve their next clue. In Lost in Translation, teams needed to make their way 4 miles (6.4 km) to Kowloon City and find Nga Tsin Wai Road. Once there, they had to search among hundreds of similar-looking Chinese signs for the specific sign shown in a photo in their clue. When they matched the photo with the correct store sign, the owner would hand them their next clue.

The clues instructed teams taking a ferry from Star Ferry Pier, Central to Hong Kong Island. Once there, they must travel to the former Kennedy Town Police Headquarters and find the next clue inside the abandoned building, encountering the Roadblock, asking. "Who's ready to break down barriers?". One teammate had to kick down doors in the building, and search the rooms behind the doors for their clue. The clue directing teams to find the marked cars and head to Victoria Park where they had to find a model boat on a pond and Travelocity roaming gnome from the above of the junk. Then, they must pull the gnome from one end to the other without having the gnome fall into the water in order to receive their next clue. If the gnome tumbles down, they have to start over. Teams sending the clues to head to the Pit Stop at this horse track at Happy Valley Racecourse, an institution owned by Hong Kong Jockey Club.

Leg 11 (Hong Kong, China → Macau, China)

At the start of the leg, teams instructed to travel by turbojet to Macau. Upon arrival on the ferry terminal, they find a man with a rickshaw who would give their next clue. The clue sending them to Macau Tower, the tallest structure in the city-state and search the inner rim with their next clue, as well as the Yield board. Oswald & Danny decide to perpetrate on using Yield Eric & Danielle. The Roadblock clue asked "Who's ready to crap their pants?". One team member had to perform the world's tallest Skyjump, walking around the outer rim of the observation deck, using a permanent ascender and then take a tethered jump off of the tower to fall 660 feet (200 m) to the ground in order to receive their next clue.

The clues instructed teams to head to Lou Lim Ieoc Garden and search the landscaped lush garden to receive their next clue, and was discovered with the Detour: Noodle or Dragon. In Noodle, teams had travel to Edificio Fabril Veng Kin and had to choose a noodle making station to use of traditional methods to flatten a dough, cut it and make two bundles of traditional Chinese noodles. Teams must do it properly until receiving their next clue. In Dragon, teams had to travel to a warehouse to carry a dragon head and drum and carry it Lua error in Module:Convert at line 452: attempt to index field 'titles' (a nil value). to the harbor at Nam Van Lake. Then, they had to attach the dragon head to a one dragon boat corresponds with the head matched and head over the drum to receive their next clue from the master. The clue instructed teams to locate a marked Mini Moke to receive their next clue, sending them to drive to the Pit Stop. Trilho da Taipa Pequena 2000 Park in Taipa Island.

Leg 12 (Macau, China → Guam, USA)

B-52 bombers were featured in one side of the Detour in Guam.

Airdate: April 29, 2007

At the start of the leg, teams were informed to travel on their next destination was the American territory of Guam, on the island of Western Pacific. Upon arrival, they had to drive themselves to Andersen Air Force Base, due to military concerns, they must choose a military escort to drive them at the Air Base's control tower where they had to climb at the top to find their next clue.

At the Air Force Base, the clue was eventually discovered relating with the Air Force-inspired Detour: Care Package or Engine Care. In Care Package, teams made to the warehouse and must choose a loading station, fill up a 500 pounds (230 kg) packages with various humanitarian aid items for a neighboring island. Once complete, the teams must then board a C-17 Globemaster and participate in an air drop training exercise. Though easier, the mission would take at least half an hour. When they land, the load master would receive their next clue. In Engine Care, teams had to clean an engine pod on a B-52 bomber. They had to scour the associated flap section on the wing of a bomber until one of the base's sergeants feels the portion of the plane is clean enough. Once the cleaning is satisfied with their work, a maintenance officer would receive their next clue.

The clues instructed teams to travel to US Naval Base in Orote Peninsula. Upon arrival, a naval escort must drive them to a landing zone for their next clue, where teams encountered the Roadblock, asking "Who's ready to search far and wide?". One team member had to perform a search and rescue mission. Using a handheld GPS receiver and must navigate to a jungle, team members had to find one of four search and rescue training officers and receive new GPS co-ordinates from him, sending them to the landing zone, and use a radio for a smoke grenade to signal for a helicopter to pick them up and bring them back to the naval base, they received their next clue. The clue directed teams to the Pit Stop at Fort Soledad.

Leg 13 (Guam, USA → United States)

Teams visited the old San Francisco Mint for the final task on the Race.

Airdate: May 6, 2007

At the start of the leg, teams were instructed to travel to the island of Oahu in Hawaii. Upon arrival on its state capital of Honolulu, they had to head to Kamaka Air Hangar where they must sign in one of three helicopters that will take them to Lanai. Once they land, they must choose a marked jeep to drive themselves to Kaumalapau Harbor and picked up their next clue, the Detour, a choice between Under or Over. In Under, teams had to swim into an underwater cave where their next clue would be anchored to the floor of the cave. In Over, teams had to use a paddle board. Once there, both team members paddle together to one of paddle boards to reach a buoy that had their next clue.

There was a Roadblock that was being shown at the photos on the official CBS website suggesting involved jumping off a cliff into the water below, as Mirna and Danielle were shown doing this task in the photos. Footage of Charla & Mirna approaching jeeps with the clue inside each jeep after their helicopter landed in Lanai suggest that the location of the Roadblock was most likely in Hawaii before the Detour, though the exact location is unknown. However, this objective was unaired.

The clue teams directed them to Shipwreck Beach where they trek a mile along the shore to find their next clue, telling them to use a kayak to find a nearby World War II ship wreck to find the buoy and their next clue, telling them to travel on their final destination city: San Francisco, California. Upon arrival, they made their way to Grateful Dead House (in an unaired segment) and find a clue to that directed them to the city's Old Mint.

At the Old Mint, teams were given for the final task, one team member must enter the vault that would answer four questions relating to their opinion of other teams on the race had displayed on the wall:

  • Who is least trustworthy?
  • Who has the best sense of humour?
  • Who is most overrated?
  • Who do you most want to stay in touch with?

The answers must corresponding to a four digit code that that team member entered to lock a safe containing their final clue. The other team member then had 10 minutes to guess his or her teammate's answers and enter the same code to unlock the safe. If they guessed correctly, the safe would open and leave immediately to allow their final clue. If the 10 minutes expired without a correct guess, a guard would hand them their final clue, sending them to the Finish Line at San Francisco Botanical Garden.
