Princess Joséphine Caroline of Belgium (18 October 1872 – 6 January 1958). She was the daughter of Prince Philippe, Count of Flanders and Princess Marie of Hohenzollern-Sigmaringen.

Joséphine Caroline married her maternal first cousin Prince Karl Anton of Hohenzollern-Sigmaringen on 28 May 1894 in Brussels. Their relationship is described as a happy one. They lived in the Burg Namedy. During the WWI, she made the residence to a military hospital for wounded soldiers. In 1936, Joséphine Caroline joined the Catholic Benedictine order and became a nun in Namur in Belgium.

Marriage and issue

On 28 May 1894 in Brussels, she married her maternal first cousin Prince Karl Anton of Hohenzollern-Sigmaringen, later simply of Hohenzollern (Sigmaringen, 1 September 1868 - Namedy, 21 February 1919), third son of Leopold, Prince of Hohenzollern-Sigmaringen, later simply of Hohenzollern and Infanta Antónia of Portugal. They had the following children;

  • Princess Stephanie Josephine Karola Philippine Leopoldine Marie of Hohenzollern (8 April 1895 Potsdam, Germany – 7 August 1975 Dießen am Ammersee, Germany), married Joseph Ernst, Count Fugger von Glott (26 October 1895 – 13 May 1981 Miesbach, Germany), on 18 May 1920.
  • Princess Marie Antoinette Wilhelmine Auguste Viktoria of Hohenzollern (23 October 1896 – 4 July 1965) married Baron Egon Eyrl von und zu Waldgries und Liebenaich (6 December 1892 Bolzano, Italy – 27 April 1981 Überlingen, Germany), on 27 November 1924)
  • Prince Albrecht Ludwig Leopold Tassilo of Hohenzollern (28 September 1898 Potsdam – 30 July 1977), married Isle Margot Klara Willy von Friedeburg (28 June 1901 Potsdam – 2 July 1988) on 19 May 1921, in Potsdam, and had five children.
  • Princess Henriette Leopoldine Wilhelmine of Hohenzollern-Sigmaringen (29 September 1907 – 3 October 1907).
