Billboard Album Chart
The album was the 21st consecutive album by Mathis to chart on the Billboard album chart. In its original release it peaked at #35, a disappointing result considering that his previous four hit singles compilations for Columbia Records had all reached the top ten on the chart.[1]
Highlights
Of the songs of the album, two are particularly notable. The song "All The Sad Young Men" has become a popular standard, having been recorded numerous times by everyone from Anita O'Day to Shirley Bassey. Mathis sang the theme song to the 1959 film The Best of Everything. The film told the story of young hopefuls in the publishing world, and starred Hope Lange, Stephen Boyd, Suzy Parker, Diane Baker, Louis Jourdan, and Joan Crawford.
