Plot
Gitti (Birgit Minichmayr) and Chris (Lars Eidinger) are a young German couple on vacation at Chris's family villa in Sardinia. Gitta is much more spontaneous and light-hearted than Chris, wanting to go out and try to make friends while Chris remains introverted, preferring to stay in and read, even hiding from his neighbour, Hans. When he tries to speak to Gitti about his unhappy feelings about his life and career she interrupts him to say that he over thinks everything and should consider settling down with her. Chris is taken aback by her outburst.
While shopping for groceries Chris spots Hans and unsuccessfully tries to hide from him. Hans invites the couple to a barbecue at his home with his wife Sana which Gitta tries to decline. Chris overrides her and accepts the invitation. While there Hans reveals that Chris has declined an architecture prize because his design would be melded with another architect, though Chris had previously told Gitta that he hadn't heard back from the competition. Gitta is angered by the news and takes out her frustration on Hans.
The following day Chris is hyper critical of Gitta taking her on a long hike during which they get lost. Afterwards he informs her that he will be going for a drink with Hans alone as Gitta embarrassed him the previous evening. Though Gitta begs him not to leave her alone at night he goes anyway, returning in the morning. The following day Chris informs Gitta that he is considering taking an architecture job on the island. While Chris meets with his potential client, Gitta goes exploring on her own, trying out a new makeover. Meeting up with Chris he tells her that he plans to invite Hans and Sana over to their home.
The dinner with Hans and Sana goes awkwardly as Chris behaves oddly in front of the couple, making Gitta tone down her odd behaviour. After they've eaten Hans throws his wife in the pool and Chris follows him by tossing Gitta in as well. Upset she tells Sana to make an excuse and leave their home.
The following day instead of going to the beach Gitta returns to the villa. Chris follows her back and overhears her talking on the phone. Though she initially claims the call was about work she later tells him that she no longer loves him and is leaving him because he's a loser. Chris tells her to leave however Gitta collapses on the floor instead and plays dead. After ascertaining that she is not actually injured Chris tries to shake Gitta out of it before finally blowing on her belly causing her to laugh.
