DPS Megacity was established in 2004 at Kolkata belonging to the DPS family of schools. It is the only DPS other than DPS Newtown Kolkata to be affiliated to the Indian Certificate of Secondary Education(ICSE). It was ranked as #1 school in Kolkata by Times of India.
Details
Built in 2004 DPS Megacity is one of the 5 DPS schools in Kolkata and is affiliated to ICSE board. Mrs. Indrani Sanyal has been principal since 2006,succeeding Mrs. Mala Roy.It's pro-vice chairman is Mr. Vija Agarwall.The school has more than 4500 students and has a large teaching faculty of 300 teachers.It also has a hostel facility for students from class 5 and requires additional fees.
Academics
DPS Megacity has done very well in academics since the beginning.It has always done well in both ICSE and ISC examinations.In the 2015 ISC examinations a student scored 99.5% ranking 2nd in India. It also did well in ICSE 2015(98%).It has an acclaimed teaching faculty.
Sports
It has a house system having four houses named after the elements of the earth:
- Prithvi(land)-Let truth be your guide.
- Jal(water)-Dare to think differently.
- Vayu(air)-In union is strength.
- Agni(fire)-Fight for what you believe.
It has an annual sports day during December, and has done well in inter-school sports competition.Many inter-house sports activities are held.There are even teachers vs students cricket match. Recently Indian Cricketer Harbhajan Singh had opened his institute HSIC along with the school and visited it.Arsenal had also established a soccer school
