Currajong, Queensland

Currajong is a suburb of the City of Townsville, Queensland, Australia.[1] It had a population of 2,628 in 2011 census.[2]

History

The name Currajong is believed to be derived from the name of a residence in Stagpole Street, West End, owned by Edward Hunt. In about 1888 Hunt planted currajong trees in the grounds.[1][3]

Currajong State School opened on 28 June 1954.[4]

The Marian School opened in 1988.
