Cambria Iron Company is a former company, and also is the name of a National Historic Landmark located in Johnstown, Pennsylvania. The company was founded in 1852 and made many important contributions to the iron and steel industry. William Kelly (inventor) implemented many of his iron and steel technology advances at this location. The company later became the Cambria Steel Co.

A number of works by the firm are listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Name history

The Cambria Iron Works was reorganized in 1898 and renamed the Cambria Steel Company. In 1916, the Midvale Steel and Ordnance Company bought the Cambria Steel Company, and sold it to the Bethlehem Steel Company in 1923.

According to the NHL summary, "The Cambria Iron Works closed in 1992. In 2001, the Johnstown Redevelopment Authority acquired three key structures within the complex (the Blacksmith Shop, the Machine Shop, and the adjacent Carpenter Shop) from the Bethlehem Steel Corporation, in order to return the buildings to a viable industrial, commercial, and tourist site under a mixed-use conceptual plan."
