The BSM/9 M1 is a Brazilian inertia-delayed blowback-operated, selective-fire submachine gun developed during the late 1970s, chambered for the 9×19mm Parabellum round, which uses 20/32-round Uzi-compatible box magazines. It has a cyclic rate of 600 rounds per minute and a muzzle velocity of 400 meters per second. The BSM/9 M1 has a fixed stock, a 228 mm–long barrel, and protected post foresight and an aperture rearsight fixed at 100 meters.
