Abel Womack is a dealer, designer, and service provider of material handling equipment that helps businesses move materials and organize their warehouses. The company, founded in 1922 and based in the northeastern United States, has offices in Lawrence, Massachusetts, Edgewood, New York, and Wallingford, Connecticut. Its clients include businesses in the grocery, retail, apparel, manufacturing, pharmaceutical, parcel delivery, and third-party logistics (3PL) industries.[1]

The company began as Robert Abel & Co., an overhead crane distributor. It later broadened its offerings to include lift trucks, conveying systems, storage and retrieval systems, and electronic warehouse management systems. In 1998, Abel acquired Womack Material Systems Inc., and in 2003, the merged entity was re-branded as Abel-Womack Integrated Handling Solutions.[2]

Honors and Distinctions

Abel Womack received The Raymond Corporation's 2007,[3] 2008,[4] 2009,[5]2011, 2012, 2013, and 2015 Dealer of Distinction award for outstanding service and sales of Raymond lift trucks. The award is earned by dealers who exceed Raymond’s benchmark standards in sales, customer service and retention, and market share performance.

In 2008, the company was named to a list of 95 employers who showed “extra sensitivity” to bereaved employees following the death of a child.[6]
